Features of Bushnell RXS-250

1. Robust Design and Construction

The Bushnell RXS-250’s design is a testament to durability and resilience. Built with rugged, aircraft-grade aluminum, it’s not just about looking tough; it’s about being tough. This optic is designed to withstand the rigors of both tactical and recreational use as per claims.

Its IP67 rating further assures its dust and waterproof capabilities, ensuring it performs in various weather conditions.

The incorporation of detented windage and elevation adjustments adds to its robustness, giving users precise control over their aiming, which is crucial in high-stakes situations.

My Testing

In my hands-on experience, the Bushnell RXS-250 proved its mettle. I mounted it on a Springfield Armory XD-M and subjected it to various stress tests including exposure to dust and water.

Each time, the RXS-250 came out unscathed, maintaining its zero and functionality. Until that one time where i did a drop test and the lens cracked on the first go, leading me to believe that the thickness of the lens is not that durable.

2. Advanced Optical Quality

The optical quality of the Bushnell RXS-250 is where it truly shines. Bushnell has employed a proprietary multi-coating process on the glass, eliminating the common blue hue and ensuring true-tone color representation.

This results in an impressive 86% average light pass-through, offering a crystal-clear view. The sight features a clean 4 MOA dot, which is crisp and easily discernible against various backgrounds.

The ten brightness settings range from very low (ideal for night vision compatibility) to extremely bright, accommodating different lighting conditions.

My Testing

Testing the optical clarity of the RXS-250 was a revelation. The absence of any significant tint on the lens provided a natural view of the target.

Adjusting through the brightness settings, I found the mid-range settings (around 5 and 6) to be ideal for most daylight conditions. In darker settings, the lower brightness levels were more than sufficient, and I was impressed by the night vision compatibility.

The 4 MOA dot remained distinct and clear throughout, aiding in quick target acquisition and accurate shooting.

3. Versatile Mounting and Compatibility

One of the standout features of the Bushnell RXS-250 is its versatility in mounting and compatibility with various firearms. This reflex sight is designed to fit a wide range of pistols, rifles, and shotguns, thanks to its compatibility with the DeltaPoint Pro footprint.

The included low-profile Weaver mount expands its adaptability, making it a suitable option for different types of shooters and purposes, from home defense and duty carry to competition shooting.

The sight’s optimized housing design not only contributes to its durability but also ensures it doesn’t obstruct the sight picture, even when mounted on firearms with different ergonomics.

My Testing

I tested the RXS-250 on multiple firearms, including a Glock 17 MOS and a Ruger PC9 Carbine, to evaluate its versatility. The mounting process was straightforward, and the sight fit seamlessly on each firearm.

The low-profile design ensured it didn’t snag on holsters or clothing, making it an excellent choice for duty carry. Its performance on the rifle as a backup sight was equally impressive, providing a quick and reliable aiming solution when switching from a primary scope.

4. Long Battery Life and Easy Replacement

A standout feature of the Bushnell RXS-250 is its remarkable battery life. The sight operates on a CR2032 battery, which is known for its longevity and reliability.

Bushnell promises an estimated 50,000 hours of battery life on the mid-setting, which translates to over 5 years of continuous use. This long-lasting performance is crucial for users who rely on their optics for extended periods without the hassle of frequent battery changes.

Moreover, the top-loading battery compartment is a thoughtful design choice, allowing for easy replacement without the need to dismount the sight from the firearm. This ensures that you can swiftly change batteries when needed without affecting your sight’s zero.

My Testing

During my testing, the battery life of the RXS-250 was impressive. I used the sight extensively over several months, and the battery indicator remained strong.

The top-loading design proved to be incredibly convenient, as I could replace the battery without disturbing the sight’s calibration. This feature is particularly beneficial for law enforcement or defense use, where maintaining zero is critical.

5. Auto-Off Timer for Battery Conservation

The Bushnell RXS-250 is equipped with a user-selectable auto-off timer, an innovative feature designed to conserve battery life. This timer automatically powers down the optic after 12 hours of no button presses, ensuring the sight is always ready for use.

The inclusion of this feature demonstrates Bushnell’s commitment to creating a product that is not only high-performing but also practical in real-world scenarios. For users who prefer continuous operation, the auto-off function can be easily disabled by holding both adjustment buttons for 4 seconds, giving them full manual control over the sight.

My Testing

I found the auto-off timer to be a useful addition. It’s reassuring to know that the sight will conserve battery life when not in use. During my range sessions, I tested the timer by leaving the sight inactive for extended periods.

6. True-Tone Multi-Coated Optics for Clarity

The RXS-250 showcases Bushnell’s True-Tone multi-coated optics, designed to provide clear and accurate color representation.

This technology ensures that the colors you see through the sight are true to life, without the common distortion or hue changes found in lesser quality optics. The coating also enhances light transmission, ensuring a bright and clear sight picture in various lighting conditions.

This feature is crucial for shooters who rely on their optics for quick and accurate target acquisition, especially in fast-paced or dynamically changing environments.

My Testing

Testing the True-Tone optics of the RXS-250 was a delight. The clarity and color accuracy were immediately noticeable. I used the sight in different lighting conditions, from bright outdoor ranges to dimly lit indoor settings, and the optics performed exceptionally well.

The absence of any color distortion made target identification more straightforward and accurate. This level of optical clarity is particularly beneficial for shooters with aging eyes or those who need to make quick, decisive shots.

Footprint and Mounting Considerations

The Bushnell RXS-250 stands out with its versatile mounting capabilities, making it a suitable choice for a variety of firearms. Its compatibility with the DeltaPoint Pro footprint allows for seamless integration with numerous pistol models, as well as rifles and shotguns.

This adaptability is further enhanced by the inclusion of a Weaver type low-profile mount in the package, catering to the needs of different shooting styles and requirements.

The sight’s design ensures easy installation and reliable mounting, ensuring that it stays securely in place during use, regardless of the firearm it is attached to.
