Welcome to my HOLOSUN 507c Red Dot Sight Review in 2023.

It’s always good to greet you guys through the medium of words while sharing a common interest in guns and accessories.

Well, if I know one thing for sure about all gun enthusiasts like myself, we are all looking for great optics to go with our weapons. Sights are crucial when it comes to optics. Now I know it’s not rational to buy a specific sight for each of the guns you own, so it seems better to have one that goes with most of the good guns and possesses many great features a sight can have. Not to forget, it shouldn’t go overboard on the budget ship. Hence, I thought of sharing a sight that I always found efficient with you – Holosun 507c.

Holosun 507c Features

Given below are some of the features of Holosun 507c that make this piece of art exceptional.

1. Durability

507c has intense durability. This is one feature that makes it the best choice for tactical situations. A few specifications can be credited for this durability, which is mentioned below.

Aluminum Housing

507c has a 7075 aluminum housing that gives it extreme strength and resistance to shocks and makes it lightweight. This is a competitive edge for holosun 507c since strong and unbeatable housing makes the optic last longer.

Multi-coated glass lens

Holosun 507c has a multi-layered glass coating that provides maximum light wave transmission and holds the flag for durability since it resists wear and shock.

Waterproof

An optic needs to withstand a certain underwater immersion. Holosun 507c is IPX-6 rated, which means it can easily endure an underwater submersion for up to 30 minutes at 1 meter.

On-hands experience

I have had 507c for over a decade, so I have had my fair share of experience with this absolute gem. I had it dropped, scratched, and worked a number of rounds over a short span – it never compromised on performance, didn’t lose the zero, and no severe damage to the sight was done. I can vouch for its strength and durability.

2. Battery Life and Features

Okay, this is my favorite part of this sight – the exceptionally long battery life and other accompanying factors.

Holosun 507c provides a long battery life of approximately 50,000 to 100,000 hours. Your battery wouldn’t leave your side anytime soon, trust me!

Shake awake feature

This feature adds so much value to this optic. It’s literally “ready to go” at any given moment. Because of the shake awake feature automatically shuts down upon being motionless, conserving the battery life. It also gets ready to function once it senses even the slightest motion.

Solar failsafe

Another interesting feature that makes 507c extremely reliable is that it won’t die on you. I mean, who are we kidding? We all know that a shooter’s worst nightmare is the sight dying on the field or in any other tactical situation. So, with a solar failsafe, the sight keeps running using solar energy, even if the battery runs out.

Battery compartment

This is a very tiny but crucial detail in any sight. Where does the battery go? In older versions of Holosun 507c, the battery compartment was at the bottom of the sight, requiring the sight to be removed and re-zeroed. In contrast, in version 2, the battery tray is placed at a side to avoid inconvenience.

3. Brightness

Holosun 507c has 10 daylight brightness settings while 2-night vision. As per my experience, this sight has one of the brightest reticles I have come across. Especially if we talk about night vision compatibility, I found it extremely helpful with my astigmatism while shooting.

4. Reticle

507c has a multi-reticle system with a 2 moa dot and 32 moa circle. It allows you to use the sight in three ways – either use the dot or circle separately or in combination.

Although I feel using the combination is better since you get the best of both worlds – you get the pinpoint accuracy of 2 moa and a speed of 32 moa. A circle around your dot makes it more trackable, which is important in the case of moving targets. Best for hunting trips!

5. Mounts

One of the best things about holosun 507c is that it has an RMR footprint, the most commonly used one. What purpose does it serve, you ask? It means since the popularity of rmr footprint. Your gun might already be milled according to it. This way, you wouldn’t need to get it milled again. You can just put it on and start the show!

6. Size

Holosun 507c is lightweight and easy to carry. With a mere weight of 0.09 pounds, it has marked its territory among concealed carry weapons. Mini but mighty, isn’t it?

It has small dimensions and can be easily carried along. It won’t add extra weight to the gun itself and won’t look too snaggy.

Perks of Buying a 507c

Reliability

Holosun 507c is extremely reliable. You can genuinely trust your life with it. Its precision and accuracy make it the easy choice to acquire the target.

Some other features are included in the perks of buying a 507c.

Lock mode

This feature prevents accidental changes in the settings to not mess up the zero or brightness settings.

Parallax free

Holosun 507c provides a parallax-free optical experience. You can move your head behind the window without losing the dot.

Field of view

Holosun 507c has a larger window than 507k that allows the field of view to be wider and provides maximum situational awareness and shooting with both eyes opened.

User-friendliness

Holosun 507c gets appreciated greatly for its innovation and willingness to make changes and improvements – especially in the user realm. Like shifting the controls out of the way of acquiring the target for shooting or designating a side door for battery removal. This and many other minute details add so much to the overall value of 507c.

Easy installation

It’s extremely easy to install or detach from the gun. You can mount it with utmost ease due to the rmr footprint.

What you might not like

Bluish tint

The lens has a bluish tint that might not be many people’s favorite. However, I never had a problem with it, and I believe after a little while, you get used to the tint, and it becomes unnoticeable.

How does it operate?

As mentioned earlier, this sight gains a “go-gun” status due to the shake awake feature, which means it’ll turn on as soon as you pick it up. After that, you’ll have to zero it for the first time and later select the reticle option you wanna go for – either you prefer the dot and circle together or apart. Then all you gotta do is aim, with the dot at the target, and shoot.

You don’t have to worry about the battery since it’s already got a long one. Nonetheless, solar failsafe will take care of you if your battery dies. You wouldn’t have to do that manually.

Also, you can change the brightness settings with the help of controls at the side of the sight.

Best suited with

Holosun 507c is very versatile. Due to its RMR footprint, it’s compatible with any gun that’s milled for RMR. Its low profile and snag-free design are best for shotguns, AK, and AR rifles. This is the reason it’s widely used by military and competition shooters across the globe.

Price

Holosun 507c isn’t that expensive. If we compare the price with the features, then it’s worth each penny.

My Experience

Holosun 507c is for sure one of the best sights in my collection for years. It never disappointed me regarding accuracy, durability, or battery life. The multi-reticle option makes a huge difference since I also own Eotech XP s2, which lacks a choice to switch to the solo mode of dot or circle. Also, I would suggest it to the newbies out there since it’s not extremely over-budgeted and, due to its user-friendly features, is very convenient to use. One of my favorites, for sure. I would recommend it on any given day!

Alternatives

If you don’t want to go for the holosun 507c for any reason, then there are some great alternatives to this masterpiece that have more or less the primary qualities similar to that of the 507c.

FAQs

What is the difference between holosun 507c and 507k?

507c means that the sight includes a solar panel – that’s what the c represents – while 507k doesn’t have a built-in solar panel.

Also, the 507k only has a red colored reticle, whereas the 507c comes with both reticle colors – red and green.

What is the difference between holosun 507c X2 and V2?

The X2 version is the older version of 507c, while V2 was launched later with improvements in the previously ignored areas like the battery compartment. In X2, the battery compartment is at the bottom, meaning you have to remove the sight from your gun to change the battery, while in V2, the battery compartment was moved to the side for easier battery change.

Why are holosun products in hype?

Holosun is a brand that has achieved excellence in producing firearms accessories in a very short time. Their products are extremely durable since they mostly use 7075 aluminum in their housing. Also, the accuracy and reliability provided by holosun sights are unmatched. And it’s not like they stopped there. • The P365 X Macro’s got that thinner frame, so going with a K series red dot is like picking the perfect pair of gloves snug and just right. But if your heart’s set on the Holosun 507c, you’re not out of luck. Just grab an aftermarket plate that can bridge the gap from RMSc to RMR footprint.

    • I’ve got three of these sights myself, and they’ve been steady as a rock. It really does sound like your issue might be down to the mount. Maybe give that a check to make sure it’s on there solidly. Sometimes, it’s the little things that make the biggest difference.
