Hey shooters! Welcome back to my Holosun 507K X2 Review in 2023.
If you follow my blogs, you must know I’m a big fan of Holosun optics. So when I got my hands on their new Holosun 507k red dot sight, I was excited to check it out and share with you guys its in-depth review.
So, Today I am gonna talk about the front runner of the small red dot sites from Holosun, which is none other than Holosun 507k X2.
Let’s get started!
Holosun 507k Review – Best Mini Red Dot
Holosun made quite a splash in the industry when they first came out with durable pistol optics that are half the price of the best red dot sights available on the market.
Holosun 507K X2 is a little brother of Holosun’s highly popular HS507c open red dot sight. Holosun shrinks the footprint of 507K X2 to make it more versatile for mounting on compact pistols.
The Holosun 507K X2 red dot sight is one of the market’s lightest and most rugged micro red dot sights.

1. Reticle
The Holosun hs507k x2 has a multiple reticle system that features three different reticles 2 moa dot, 32 moa circles, and a combination of both. You can choose between red or green color.
I like the option to have different reticles because it gives me more versatility for different scenarios. I usually use the dot only for close-range target acquisition and switch to the circle when I need to engage targets at a longer distance.
With 32 moa circle, you can easily engage targets even if the dot is off-centered. The circle will help you guide the dot back to the center for a more accurate shot.
The reticle is also very bright and crisp, even in direct sunlight. I haven’t had any issues with washout or blurriness.
How do you change the reticle?
You’ll need to hold down the “-” button for 3 seconds, and then you can cycle through all of your options with just one press!
Testing
When I tested this on my Glock 43x Mos, I enjoyed the 32 moa circle/dot combo for long-range shooting. I was able to acquire targets quickly and easily. The red dot was very bright and crisp, even in direct sunlight. I didn’t have any issues with washout or blurriness.
2. Window Size
The window size of holosun hs507k x2 is 0.58″ X 0.77″.
Holosun HS507k and Holosun HS507c are almost the same. The difference is 0.26″ in width and 0.59″ in height, but it doesn’t feel too small when you look through it. Holosun did a great job with the size of this window. It’s big enough to acquire targets quickly and easily without feeling like you are looking through a tiny peephole.
Can you find the dot easily?
Many people worried that the smaller window might make it more difficult to find the dot, but I didn’t have any problems with that. The red dot was still very easy to see, even when I moved around a lot.
Is Practice Required – Just like with any other red dot sight, you will need to practice a little to get used to looking for the dot in the window. But it’s not a big deal once you get the hang of it.
Window Test
when I mounted this on my Glock 43x, I got a good field of view. I had no problems with the dot being too small or hard to find. The sight picture was clear, and I had no issues with the window size.
The only time I had a problem was when I tried to shoot with both eyes open, but that’s more of a user error than anything else.
3. Battery Features
The Holosun 5070k x20 runs on a single CR2032 battery and has a battery life of up to 50,000 hours. That’s pretty impressive!
Easy side battery access – one of the best things I liked about Holosun 507k x2 is that you can change the battery without removing the sight from your gun. That’s a huge plus in my book.
To change the battery, just unscrew the side tray with the help of the Allen key and change the battery from easy side access without any hassle.
You can get four years of use out of the battery before you need to replace it. Still, I recommend replacing your batteries every year just for good measure.
Battery Test
I have to say that I’m impressed with Holosun’s battery life. I’ve been using it for a few months and haven’t had to change the battery yet. It’s still going strong, and I don’t see any deterioration in performance.
But, be careful when you change the battery because if you don’t put the side tray back on correctly, it can cause the sight to lose zero. So make sure you screw it on tightly and check to see if it’s flush with the sight body before you shoot.
4. Housing Construction
Holosun 507K X2 has one of the most solid and durable housings I’ve ever seen on a red dot sight. It’s made of the highest grade material, 7075 aluminum. The frame of the Lens has straight cuts and rounded corners to withstand a huge amount of physical impact and direct it away from your glass.
Testing
I haven’t done a drop test. I am sorry, but I can say that I have shot hundreds and hundreds of rounds with this sight mounted on my Glock 43x and Springfield Hellcat without any issues. The sight has held up well, and I haven’t had any problems with it.
5. Footprint
The Holosun 507K X2 features a shield RMSc footprint.
The Holosun 507k X2 footprint is very small, making it perfect for mounting on compact pistols like the Glock 43x and the p365.
The only complaint people have about this sight is that it’s close to an RMSc but not the same due to its front and rear mounting lug slots.
To install this sight on subcompact pistols, you must buy an additional CHPWS mounting plate.
Pros
- crisp sight picture
- long battery life
- side battery tray
- easily fits in holsters
- replaces rear sight
Cons
- The battery side tray screw is too small
- difficult to shoot with both eyes open

Is Holosun 507K X2 good for Conceal Carry?
Yes, Holosun 507k X2 is purely designed for concealed carry. The sight is very small and low profile, making it perfect for concealed carry.
The only downside of 507K as an open emitter sight is that dirt particles, hair, and other debris can fall into the opening while holstered under your cloth, no matter how much you try to keep it clean.
As far as concealment is concerned, I think Holosun 5070k X20 is one of the best red dot sights for concealed carry on the market right now.
